How do I choose the mattress that is right for me?
When looking to purchase a mattress, it is important to test it first. Make sure the mattress is on the same type of base it will be on at home. Also, if two people will use the mattress, both people should test the mattress before making a purchase.
Usually, lying on a mattress for at least 10 minutes and performing a few simple tests will help determine if it is the right mattress.
First, while lying on the mattress, see if you can fit your hands under the small of your back. If this is easy to do, but makes your shoulders and hips uncomfortable, the mattress is probably too hard. If there is no small behind the small of your back, however, the mattress is too soft.
Next, try rolling over. If it is difficult to roll, the mattress is too soft. If, however, it makes your hips and shoulders uncomfortable, it is too hard.
